Bible "Brainwashing" - A Short Bible Study

Typically Brainwashing is a negative word, but this Bible study uses it to discuss the way God's Word cleanses and renews our minds.

Brainwashing is a negative term which means deceiving or falsely indoctrinating someone. 
But I'd like to put a positive spin on the word because we need the have our minds cleansed and renewed by God's Word, letting it “brainwash” us in a completely positive way.

✔  The first step in cleansing our minds is acknowledging our sins and feeling genuine sorrow for them.


James 4:7-10: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

✔  I like the New American Standard and King James version of this verse that says, Come let us reason together. Isn't it amazing that the Creator of the Universe is willing to discuss our sins with us and help us set our minds straight?

Isaiah 1:18: “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” 

This is life-changing: pray about everything, pray with thanksgiving, and focus on our blessings. This is Bible Brainwashing in a nutshell. Let's do it!

Philippians 4:6-9: 
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
