Where's Your Bank?

Matthew 6:19-21, treasures in heaven
"Where's your bank?"

This is the main question of Matthew 6.

6:1-18
Giving, praying, fasting, and acting spiritual to be seen by men - Deposit in the bank of worldly praise.

6:24
Making money or career our main focus in life - Deposit in the bank of materialism and comfort.

6:25-34
Letting earthly cares consume us - Deposit in the bank of unbelief and temporal values.

The message of Matthew 6 is similar to 1 John 2:15-17:

"Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever."

Matthew 6:19-21, your heart and yoru treasures
Matthew 6:19-21: “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

1 Timothy 6:17-19: Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
